Officialisation de notre 4ème jumelage, du 24 au 28 octobre dernier, à Omegna (au bord du lac alpin d’Orta en Italie).
Pour répondre aux attentes de très nombreux Pornicais, l’Association de Jumelage, en accord avec notre conseil municipal, a trouvé, en 2019, une ville piémontaise candidate à un jumelage, qui répondait à nos critères de sélection : taille de la ville, sa situation au nord de l’Italie, son tissu associatif culturel et sportif dynamique, plusieurs établissements scolaires… et surtout nos objectifs communs : inclusivité et égalité des genres (un jumelage qui profite à tous les habitants, quelques soient l’âge, le genre, l’origine, l’opinion, le handicap…)
Nos amis omégnais ont donc accueilli chaleureusement une délégation représentant la population pornicaise ; elle comptait 8 élus dont Jean-Michel Brard qui a initié ce jumelage et des représentants d’associations motivés par l’organisation d’échanges, des jeunes et des moins jeunes, l’équipe de hand fauteuil qui a retrouvé pour la 3ème fois l’équipe de baskIN (basket pour valides et non valides), et bien sûr des membres actifs de l’AJP. Tous ont assisté à la signature officielle de la charte du jumelage par nos maires respectifs, Claire HUGUES et Daniele BERIO.
Afin que les frais de voyage ne soient pas un obstacle à la participation, des membres de l’AJP, actifs et très engagés, avaient demandé et obtenu une subvention européenne dont ont bénéficié aussi des jeunes de Baiona ; certains ont retrouvé leurs amis connus en juin à Pornic, d’autres se sont fait de nouveaux amis. « J’ai rencontré des personnes de mon âge de nationalités différentes (dans mon cas, espagnole et italienne). Cette union restera à jamais gravée dans ma mémoire. » « J’ai adoré participer à ce jumelage et le mot est trop faible. »
Irene, artiste de Baiona avec laquelle nous menons des actions communes pour l’égalité des genres et la paix, a animé un atelier artistique dont les réalisations témoignent à Omegna de nos engagements communs.
Responsables omégnais et pornicais avaient fixé les dates de cette rencontre pendant le festival Rodari, journaliste pacifiste et écrivain pour la jeunesse, né à Omegna, car nos jumelages qui promeuvent l’amitié, la tolérance et la solidarité entre les peuples, apportent leur contribution au maintien de la paix.
Tous se réjouissent de se retrouver à Pornic, fin juin 2025, en élargissant toujours le cercle des amis omégnais et pornicais motivés par notre quatrième jumelage européen.

Official launch of our4th twinning, from 24 to 28 October, in Omegna (on the shores of Lake Orta in Italy).
To meet the expectations of many inhabitants of Pornic, the Twinning Association, in agreement with our town council, found a town in Piedmont that was a candidate for twinning in 2019 and that met our selection criteria: the size of the town, its location in northern Italy, its dynamic cultural and sporting associations, several schools, etc. and above all our common objectives: inclusiveness and gender equality (a twinning that benefits all residents, whatever their age, gender, origin, opinion, disability, etc.).
Our friends from Omegna gave a warm welcome to a delegation representing the people of Pornic, including 8 elected representatives, including Jean-Michel Brard, the mayor who initiated the twinning, and representatives of associations keen to organise exchanges, young and old alike, the wheelchair handball team, who met up for the3rd time with the baskIN team (basketball for able-bodied and disabled people), and of course active members of the AJP. They all attended the official signing of the twinning charter by our respective mayors, Claire HUGUES and Daniele BERIO.
To ensure that travel costs would not be an obstacle to participation, active and committed members of the AJP had applied for and obtained a European grant, which also benefited young people from Baiona; some met up with friends they had met in June in Pornic, while others made new friends. ‘ I met people my own age of different nationalities (in my case, Spanish and Italian). I’ll always remember this union. ‘I loved taking part in this twinning, and that’s putting it mildly’.
Irene, an artist from Baiona with whom we work together to promote gender equality and peace, led an art workshop in Omegna, and her work is testimony to our shared commitment.
Officials from Omegna and Pornic had set the dates for this meeting during the Rodari festival, a pacifist journalist and writer for young people who was born in Omegna, because our twinning arrangements, which promote friendship, tolerance and solidarity between peoples, make their contribution to maintaining peace. We all look forward to meeting again in Pornic at the end of June 2025, and to continuing to expand the circle of friends from Omegna and Pornic who are motivated by our fourth European twinning.
